Concrete Floors
white+reid create high quality polished concrete floors for domestic and commercial use. Working in conjunction with concrete worktops, concrete upstands, polished concrete wetrooms and other architectural features, personalised concrete finishing creates a robust, contemporary feel to any interior or exterior.
Our concrete floors are created using hand or power trowels. The concrete is consolidated to a very smooth, hard wearing compact surface and pigments added, if required. When a concrete floor is decided upon at planning stage, structural concrete that incorporates under-floor heating, can also be poured and finished in one process, thus eliminating initial slab laying.
Control joints can be designed to help minimise cracking. Strips of stainless steel, copper, brass or glass can separate joints. Alternatively, the concrete can also be placed 'cold' allowing for fine natural hairline cracks to occur. Cracks that may appear in concrete are a natural way of relieving stress and are not structural.
All white+reid concrete floors are carefully sealed and can be waxed for a high sheen finish. They are trowelled to a dense, polished finish using specialised mix designs for strength and durability.
For new build or extensions, white+reid concrete floors can be incorporated into the initial designs, allowing for a structural and finished slab to be produced in one process, saving construction costs. Joints, where required, become part of the design using strip steel, copper or brass.
For domestic extensions, concrete will flow throughout the building giving a seamless continuation of inside-outside spaces. Through pigmentation, careful selection of aggregates and cement types, white+reid floor finishes work with or complement the overall design concept of a project.
