FAQs+General
What is Concrete?
Concrete and cement are different! Concrete is made up of three basic components: water, aggregate (rock, sand, or gravel) and Portland Cement (the basic ingredient of concrete, it is a combination of calcium, silicon, aluminum, iron and small amounts of other ingredients to which gypsum is added in the final process). Cement is a component of concrete and is usually found in powder form. It acts as a binding agent when mixed with water and aggregates.
Concrete has been used for many amazing things throughout history. Today... builders, architects, homeowners and designers are using decorative concrete for commercial and domestic projects such as polished concrete worktops / countertops, polished concrete floors and polished concrete walls. The advancements in concrete tools, concrete stains and dyes, textures and patterns have made concrete a versatile, durable and cost-effective material which produces beautiful results.

Although polished concrete is fast becoming a popular option for worktops / countertops or other features, it is still new ground and some designers and they may be unfamiliar with concrete being used in this way. Please contact us to discuss any questions you may have.
Do you provide polished concrete samples?
As with most other companies, white+reid polished concrete samples are rather large and heavy so we arrange to meet the client on site. Bespoke samples can be produced to order.
Where can I view some of your polished concrete work?
Prospective clients are welcome to contact past white+reid clients (where agreed by them) and visits can be arranged accordingly.
Does white+reid undertake polished concrete repairs and renovations?
We have been asked to renovate other manufacturers work and had reasonable success. We have found that this success largely depends on the type of technology used in manufacture and sealing of the concrete surface. We can remove some marks / stains / chips but this depends on the degree of damage caused. The best course of action is to send us an email (info@white+reid.co.uk) with photos of the damage and we will assess whether or not we will be able help.
Can white+reid make polished concrete splashbacks?
Custom white+reid splashbacks are available as a pre-cast product. Pleasure ensure this is specified at the outset of the project.
